Jen
Jen* came to therapy, struggling with symptoms of PTSD and low self-esteem, despite the accomplishments she had achieved and the life she had worked hard to build. Although she appeared successful on the outside, she often felt unworthy, “not enough,” and undeserving of the stability she had created. These feelings were deeply connected to her past experiences, including childhood trauma, sexual assault, and witnessing domestic violence and substance abuse while growing up.
Keisha
Keisha* felt stuck in a five-year relationship. She described the relationship as toxic but felt unsure about how to end it. Keisha shared that she was afraid of being alone and of having to start over. She felt deeply conflicted – part of her wanted to fix the relationship and make it work, while another part of her doubted that her partner would change. She wanted to move forward but didn’t know how or where to start.
Sarah
Sarah* was experiencing severe symptoms of anxiety and depression. She had recently graduated from university and started a new job, which felt both exciting and overwhelming. Sarah mentioned struggling with intense intrusive thoughts, excessive worry, and a constant sense of fear. She also described difficulties with low self-esteem and persistent negative thoughts about herself.
John
John* was dealing with deep sadness after being let go from a job where he had worked for over 10 years. At the same time, he was grieving the recent loss of his mother. The weight of his grief and emotional distress had begun to impact his work performance, daily functioning, and relationships with others. John found himself withdrawing and increasingly isolating from his support system as he struggled to cope with these significant life changes.
Michael
Michael* knew he had some serious anger issues, and it was affecting relationships with those he cared about and himself. He grew up in a household where he witnessed anger, aggression, and conflict directed at him and other family members. When he was a child, he told himself, “When I grow up, I’ll be different.” But, Michael finds himself reacting in similar ways – lashing out and yelling during moments of anger. He wants to understand his anger better and develop healthier ways to manage it.

How I Help

The way forward starts with one step.
Jen
Through therapy, Jen processed childhood trauma and explored the experiences that shaped her beliefs about herself. She worked through traumatic events that led her to feel unworthy and undeserving, and began challenging these distorted thoughts. Over time, Jen developed a more compassionate and balanced self-view. Her self-esteem improved, and she learned healthier ways to manage triggers.
Keisha
In therapy, Keisha explored both past and current relationships and identified patterns across them. She recognized how her fears of rejection and abandonment were connected to early attachment experiences. Through this work, she developed greater self-awareness and confidence. Keisha also became more assertive and established healthier boundaries in her relationships.
Sarah
During sessions, Sarah explored her thoughts and feelings and began recognizing patterns that reinforced her anxiety and depression. With support, she learned to challenge negative thinking and develop a more balanced perspective. She also practiced responding to herself with greater compassion and understanding. Over time, Sarah felt more equipped to manage her emotions.
John
Therapy with John focused on processing unresolved grief and losses he had long minimized. He recognized how suppressing his pain continued to affect his daily life. Through therapy, John learned to acknowledge his emotions and allow himself to grieve. Over time, he developed healthier coping strategies, regained motivation, and secured a new job.
Mike
In Anger Management Group, Mike explored the underlying emotions beneath his anger, including disappointment, fear, and a sense of being disrespected. He learned to recognize physical cues of anger and practiced healthy coping strategies. He also developed assertive communication skills and learned to identify triggers, using time-outs to prevent reactions he might regret. The group also explored forgiveness and the importance of letting go of resentment.
